Finding the Missing

Follow along as a seasoned reporter and private investigator dive into cold cases, to help give families closure.

Hi Everyone,

I’m Crystal Gutierrez. I am the host and one of the investigators of “Beyond The Case.” Here’s a little background info about me. I was a television news anchor/reporter for nearly 20 years.I have covered drug cartel violence in Mexico, presidential campaigns, interviewed remarkable people who’ve changed history and cried with families who faced heartbreak after a tragedy. But there are some stories that leave you lying awake at night. There are more than 22,000 people considered missing every year, in the U.S., who’s cases have gone cold. Detectives and reporters hear about the cases, but oftentimes you don’t. That is why I decided to leave TV news and help families left behind find the missing. You see, I was hit by heartbreak at the age of 15, when my father died after a long battle with cancer. I know where my dad is; I know he is no longer alive and why he died. Across the U.S. there are families who are left with those aching questions - and no answers. Through “Beyond The Case,” I hope to change that. Even if we don’t get resolution, hopefully the more exposure will mean someone, who knows something, will talk.

So, come with us as we go “Beyond The Case.”

"The design is not just what it looks like. The design is how it works".

Hi,

My name is Louis Carlos. I am a retired law enforcement professional / investigator that has worked in many aspects of police work. My extensive work in investigating criminal cases, especially missing person cases, has molded my career in the private sector. I have been an investigator for almost 30 years and have solved many crimes. Throughout my career, there have been many cases that have been memorable but none more than when a missing person is found, especially those when a person is taken as a child and later found as an adult. Beyond the Case is providing the opportunity to help those left behind when a loved one goes missing. Many missing person cases are not given the attention they deserve, which leaves families without answers. I decided to join “Beyond The Case” to help breathe life back into these cases and ask the hard questions!

Over 600,000 individuals go missing in the United States every year. Fortunately, many missing children and adults are quickly found, alive and well. However, tens of thousands of individuals remain missing for more than one year. (Namus)

Today, more than 20,000 families, nationwide, are left with the aching question of where is… my mom, dad, sister, brother, niece or nephew. The disappearance of their missing loved ones are now considered cold cases. It’s time to breathe some life into these investigations…as we go Beyond The Case.
